David Gaulton is a Worship Leader and Songwriter from Los Angeles, California, where his heart for worship has grown from a young age. “I grew up in a Christian household, my Dad became a pastor when I was 8 years old. As a kid I was totally into sports, but for some reason when I heard about a guitar class at my church I wanted to be there to learn guitar. Thanks to many teachers and mentors at the New Life church, I started playing guitar at the age of 10 and fro
m then on I played every weekend with our worship team. Through that time I remember songs that truly touched my heart, worship songs would minister to the core of my soul. I couldn’t deny that God had used music, worship leaders, and Christian bands to reveal Himself to me. As I grew in my faith, it became less about the religion of my parents, but more about my own experience of God. As I saw Him moving and touching my own heart and I fully gave my life to Jesus at the age of 17. After being baptized in my church I remember God opening doors for me to lead worship. I played at my youth group, Sunday morning services, camps, anywhere people would ask me to play. I guess I was just available and open to play. That was the start of discovering my calling as a worship leader and eventually lead me to APU.”
Following his heart for worship, David decided to attend Azusa Pacific University to attend music school and be involved with their chapel worship bands. In his freshman year, he took a course in Music Theory where the final project was to write a song. It would be the first song that David wrote, but little did he know it would be a new beginning as a songwriter. After writing "By Faith", David shared the song with his church and received great encouragement. He started writing more worship songs and by the end of his Junior year at APU, he decided to record his first album, "Meditations of My Heart", in 2005.
Currently David works along side his father, Rev. Gary Gaulton, at the Mission Valley Free Methodist Church as the Worship and Young Adult Director. David's heart for worship and to see others come to know Jesus Christ has fueled his ministry at Mission Valley and around the world. David also serves as the ministry artist with Heavenly Treasures, an international non-profit organization whose heart is to assist people in developing countries to break the cycle of poverty through their gifts and abilities. David has been able to lead for churches and conferences in California, Hawaii, Washington, and has traveled internationally as a worship leader to the Philippines, and Kenya.
In the spring of 2006, David was able to intern with worship leader, Tommy Walker (He Knows My Name, That’s Why We Praise Him) at Christian Assembly Eagle Rock, California, and is where David would meet producer, Derek Williams. Over the past year Derek has worked with David helping him to find ways to reach out to the world with the songs he has written.
Most recently David is excited to release his newest album, "Righteous King" on April 25, 2008! This new EP features 5 worship songs written by David and produced by Derek Williams. “My heart is to lead others in worship and I pray that these songs would do that. That “Righteous King” would draw you into a deeper relationship to God, to seek His calling, to live for justice, and the hope that is in Jesus, our Righteous King!”
David and his wife Leah were married in 2007 and live in Southern California.
